Mid-Atlantic Members Come Together for Food, Fun & Softball!
Controllers from the Mid-Atlantic region were out in full force Wednesday, June 16, 2010, for a NATCA Reloaded softball tournament despite the off and on storms threatening the area.
At Bready Park in Herndon, Va., members from Washington Dulles (IAD), Washington Center (ZDC), Washington National (DCA) and Potomac TRACON (PCT) gathered together for games, food and good company – a breakout effort by the NATCA Reloaded Committee to get both new & veteran members in the region familiar with each other and the organization.
"This was a great opportunity for all members to come together for a day of softball and solidarity," says NATCA Reloaded Committee member Chrissy Padgett who helped organize the event.
With about 50 members in attendance -- a group that consisted not only of younger controllers, but multiple facility representatives and retired controllers as well -- the day was a great success. NATCA National Office employees manned the grill as controllers' family members cheered on their loved ones in what turned out to be a competitive series of games.
In the end, PCT came out on top, winning the championship game against ZDC 8-2. Thank you to all who came out and participated in this great event!
